We are looking to hire a procurement director of Newrest Germany Country.

Position Overview : 

As part of the development of its Inflight Catering activities in Germany, Newrest is looking for a Procurement Director to build and lead the country procurement strategy across Food and Non-Food categories.

This strategic leadership role is key to supporting business growth, operational excellence, and profitability improvement, with a target of achieving a 5% cost reduction over the next five years while maintaining the highest standards of quality, food safety, and customer satisfaction.

The successful candidate will join the country leadership team and play a central role in shaping and driving the procurement transformation agenda.

Procurement Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and implement the procurement strategy for Germany across Food and Non-Food categories. related to the budget and group Strategy.
  • Build a high-performing procurement organization aligned with business objectives.
  • Develop long-term sourcing strategies and supplier partnerships.
  • Drive procurement transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Cost Optimization & Financial Performance

  • Deliver a 5% reduction in procurement spend over the next five years.
  • Lead and optimize theoretical food cost management.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives through:
    • supplier consolidation,
    • strategic sourcing,
    • product standardization,
    • recipe optimization,
    • international sourcing,
    • logistics optimization.
  • Monitor procurement KPIs and implement corrective action plans when necessary.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with:
    • the Executive Chef,
    • Commercial Department,
    • Operations,
    • Finance,
    • Supply Chain teams.
  • Support recipe and menu optimization initiatives to improve profitability while maintaining product quality and customer experience.
  • Partner with commercial teams on customer tenders and business development opportunities.

Supplier Management & Sourcing

  • Develop and manage strategic supplier relationships in Germany and internationally.
  • Secure supply continuity in a volatile and inflationary market environment.
  • Negotiate framework agreements and key supplier contracts.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with quality, food safety, sustainability, and corporate standards.

Leadership & Governance

  • Actively contribute as a member of the country leadership team.
  • Provide strategic input to support business growth and operational performance.
  • Lead change management initiatives and foster a performance-driven procurement culture.
  • Develop, mentor, and strengthen local procurement teams.

Perfil

Candidate Profile

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or Food Industry Management.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic procurement roles, ideally within:
    • inflight catering,
    • food manufacturing,
    • hospitality,
    • food service,
    • or international operational environments.
  • Strong expertise in Food Procurement.
  • Proven experience building procurement strategies and delivering measurable savings programs.
  • Strong business acumen with a good understanding of culinary, operational, and commercial challenges.
  • Comfortable operating in multicultural and fast-paced international environments.
