Mission
Newrest is looking for a temporary driver in Manchester who will be responsible for loading the catering consignments onto a 3.5t Luton van as per the daily load plan, flights schedule and unloading of vehicles at the unit which will go to Glasgow.
Location: 316, World Freight Terminal, Manchester Airport, Manchester, M90 5EW
Reports to: Transport Manager
Shift: Start between 22:00 & 02:00, 4 on 4 off rolling shift pattern (10-12hrs per shift)
Pay: £14.50 per hour
Start date: Mid March 2026 – temporary contract 6-9 months
Please note that this position will be offered subject to security clearance, this requires a 5-year employment reference and a DBS check.

Profil
Key responsibilities
- Operating 3.5t Luton van to a designated route following training and health and safety procedures.
- Check your vehicle is clean, tidy, refuelled and maintained before the start of your shift as standard security and safety protocol.
- Report any vehicle defects and/or damage to line manager.
- Check the load is safe and secure and that the vehicle is security checked and sealed by an authorised staff member before departing to the airport with specified documentation.
- Ensure that security paperwork is handed over to crew and the delivery note is signed.
- Complete aircraft engagement as per the customer and ramp procedures, guidelines.
- Catering and de-catering of aircraft, pushing and pulling weights up to 25kg
- Comply with food safety, hygiene and security protocols.
Essential Requirements and Skills
- 3.5t Luton van driving experience preferable.
- Valid UK manual driving licence (No more than 6pts for insurance purposes (no IN’s or DN’s).
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physically fit and capable of working at heights, indoor fridge temperatures around 5 degrees, all outdoor weather conditions and fast-paced environments.
- Must be flexible to work shifts as operations run seven days a week requirement (including evenings and public holidays), you will be required to extend shifts depending on airside operational requirements.
