Mission

SUMMARY

As a Transportation Lead, you ensure that the Drivers have everything that is needed to cater the flights correctly.  The Lead will also be a Driver and Caterer for the airline flights and work closely with the Drivers.  You lead by example and by word in everything you do, including catering flights, customer service, quality, cleanliness, uniforms, and training.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Lead Responsibilities

  • Monitor Drivers and Helpers to meet labor productivity and overtime targets
  • Perform Driver and Helper responsibilities as needed to ensure all flights are catered
  • Ensure on-time and accurate catering of all flights
  • Assist the Transportation Supervisor in ensuring compliance with all government regulatory agencies standards
  • Train and guide employees in the execution of their duties
  • Check that all teams are catering correct aircraft and flights
  • Assist teams with late flights and equipment changes
  • Train new drivers and helpers
  • Be diligent, punctual, and reliable
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Driver Responsibilities

  • Load and unload of all equipment on a truck
  • Check the conformity of the amount of trolleys and cabinets to be delivered before loading
  • Fill pre-trip inspection book & perform mandatory safety checks of the vehicle for each shift
  • Ensure loading the products into vehicles according to plan galley
  • Ensure on time delivery of all items for each flight
  • Communicate by radio to supervisors and dispatchers
  • Drive a heavy vehicle respecting traffic regulations
  • Secure all products before delivery to the aircraft by sealing material
  • Ensure compliance of loading according to the procedures in place
  • Ensure cleaning of the vehicle and the area around the dock after each shift
  • Fill various security, safety and HACCP documents as needed
  • Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported
  • Observe the proper use of equipment
  • Follow all procedures for health, safety and security
  • Maintain clean working area, maintain clean loading docks, maintain clean equipment following rules

Profil

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Lead, preferably in Transportation or related industry

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Good understanding of logistics and fleet procedures
  • Good knowledge of HACCP & food safety standards
  • Aptitude in showing self-initiative and follow-through
  • Detail-oriented and ability to see high picture
  • Ability to obtain airport security (SIDA Badge), including CBP clearance
