SUMMARY: 

This individual is responsible for the performance of the Dock Team.  This individual ensures that the team members are trained and compliant to SOPs, meeting performance requirements, and executing duties in a safe and efficient manner according to expectations.  This individual is also responsible for maintenance of the weekly schedule, reporting, ongoing coaching, and corrective actions. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Supervisory and Management 

  • Maintain weekly schedule, manage coverage needs, and request additional team members as need demands.   

  • Effectively delegate duties to Supervisors and Leads for coverage needs. 

  • Set team goals and action plans based on business needs, emergent issues, and strategic objectives.  

  • Act proactively throughout the shift to ensure that Dock performance standards are met regarding staging, security checks, loading, and KDT times. 

  • Track daily team performance; provide daily and weekly reporting on KDT performance, security updates, and team performance metrics. 

  • Coach team members on performance so that individual, team, and departmental goals are met. 

  • Conduct corrective action meetings based on team member performance. 

  • Ensure that team members are up to date and compliant with training, safety initiatives, and safety culture. 

  • Practice and promote the 4 Core Newrest Values: Simplicity, Humility, Efficiency, and Responsibility. 

  • Maintain a sense of positivity and professionalism in their communications and execution of duties.  

 

Operational 

  • Ensure that any flights with compressed or at-risk timelines are managed according to At-Risk Flight SOP. 

  • Build and lead a strong team that proactively manages the dock space while ensuring cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards are met.  

  • Conduct or ensure daily communication meetings with team. 

  • Identify areas for improvement and develops action plans to increase performance. 

  • Coordinate with all related departments to ensure that all operational goals are met.   

  • Effectively complete all other duties as directed by management. 

 

QHSE 

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable requirements related to product and service quality, environmental standards, food safety, and health and safety regulations. 

  • Support the availability of resources and necessary competencies to maintain and enhance integrated management systems (IMS). 

  • Uphold commitments to environmental and social responsibility in alignment with the Be the Change CSR charter. 

  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment by preventing work-related injuries and illnesses, eliminating hazards, and reducing health and safety risks. 

  • Facilitate systems for joint consultation and participation with employees and their representatives as needed. 

  • Drive continuous improvement and consistently seek to enhance IMS performance. 

  • Effectively communicate the organization's vision, goals, and performance both internally and to relevant external stakeholders. 

 

Human Resources 

  • Interview and determine the individuals to join your department 

  • Approve time off requests and other leaves of absences 

  • Perform performance reviews for all department team members 

  • Approve all timecards and resolve timecard discrepancies 

  • Mentor and coach team members and provide corrective actions as required 

  • Regular and timely attendance is expected for the position. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelors in Operations, Logistics, Business Management, or related field preferred 

  • 5-7 years’ experience in inflight catering or airport hub environment, manufacturing, logistics, or food industry managing employees 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Strong leadership experience with experience in turnaround environments 

  • Strong communication skills with ability to communicate with non-exempt to upper management levels 

  • Ability to effectively handle conflict and de-escalate emotionally charged situations 

  • Good understanding of OSHA, HR, and other employment laws 

  • Good knowledge of investigation procedures and root cause analysis 

  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and operational processes 

  • Strategic thinker with creative and excellent problem solving and decision-making skills 

  • Resilient self-starter, who can act independently and learn quickly within a rapidly evolving environment 

  • Aptitude in showing self-initiative and follow-through 

  • Detail-oriented and ability to see big picture 

  • Strong ability with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint 

  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills 

  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability 

  • Strong analytical skills for interpretation of data to effectively manage risk 

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with site operations, functional leaders and external clients and vendors

This position requires constant physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling or squatting, climbing ladders or stairs, gripping objects, and pushing, pulling, and lifting/carrying items weighing 25–50 lbs. Sitting and reaching above shoulder level occur occasionally, as does driving a company vehicle. The role is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, with constant exposure to high and low temperatures, loud noise, fumes, and dust. There is occasional exposure to chemicals, and the position frequently involves working at heights of 16 to 20 feet.
