Mission

SUMMARY:

This individual supports the daily implementation of quality, health, safety, and food safety programs within the facility. This role performs inspections, maintains documentation, monitors compliance with company and customer standards, and supports audit activities and continuous improvement efforts. This individual works closely with Operations and QHSE leadership to identify concerns, communicate findings, and promote a safe, sanitary, and quality-focused work environment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Quality Assurance & Food Safety Support

· Support the implementation and maintenance of food safety, quality, and sanitation programs in accordance with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.

· Maintain accurate and timely quality documentation, records, checklists, and reports.

· Perform routine quality checks and inspections to verify compliance with food safety, sanitation, and operational standards.

· Monitor production activities to ensure adherence to customer specifications, company procedures, and food safety requirements.

· Identify quality concerns, process deviations, or compliance issues and communicate findings to the QHSE Supervisor or appropriate leadership.

 

Inspections, Audits & Compliance Monitoring

· Conduct daily production area inspections, facility walkthroughs, and GEMBA walks to identify potential risks and opportunities for improvement.

· Perform visual inspections of equipment, facilities, and work areas to verify cleanliness, safety, and compliance with established standards.

· Monitor sanitation activities and verify completion of cleaning requirements and documentation.

· Assist with internal and external audits by preparing documentation, gathering information, and supporting audit activities.

· Document inspection findings and assist with tracking corrective actions as directed by leadership.

 

Quality Metrics & Continuous Improvement Support

· Collect and maintain quality data, including inspection results, non-conformances, and key performance indicators.

· Assist with trending quality data and identifying recurring issues or opportunities for improvement.

· Provide feedback and recommendations to leadership regarding quality, safety, and process improvement opportunities.

· Support implementation of corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.

 

Training & Employee Support

· Assist with providing food safety, sanitation, and quality training to employees.

· Reinforce proper food handling, hygiene, sanitation, and safety practices throughout the facility.

· Support employee awareness of quality requirements and company expectations.

· Communicate quality concerns and provide guidance to employees regarding proper procedures.

 

Communication & General Responsibilities

· Partner with Operations and other departments to support compliance with food safety, quality, and safety requirements.

· Communicate inspection results, concerns, and operational observations to the QHSE Supervisor or management team.

· Follow all Newrest and customer policies, procedures, and operational requirements.

· Maintain regular, timely, and predictable attendance.

· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field. Advanced degrees and certification (eg, NEBOSH, ISO Lead Auditor) preferred, but not required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in QHSE or food safety role.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Knowledge of food safety principles, sanitation practices, and quality standards within a food manufacturing or food service environment.

· Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, sanitation procedures, and basic regulatory requirements preferred.

· Ability to perform inspections, facility walkthroughs, and quality checks to identify compliance concerns.

· Ability to accurately complete, maintain, and review quality documentation, records, and reports.

· Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify product, process, and sanitation issues.

· Ability to communicate effectively with employees, operations teams, and leadership regarding quality and safety expectations.

· Ability to support audits, inspections, and corrective action activities.

· Ability to follow procedures, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

· Ability to provide basic training and guidance to employees on food safety, sanitation, and quality practices.

· Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement and compliance initiatives.
