Mission
Title: Unit Co-ordinator
Department: Dishwash (with cover for Equipment Pack)
Shift pattern: 4 on 2 off, earlies and late shifts
Start times: Early shift 0600-1430
Late shift 1430-2300
Full/Part Time: Full Time, Permanent, must be flexible and willing to work extra hours when required
Location: Gatwick
We are looking for a responsible and organised Unit Co-ordinator to manage and co-ordinate overall daily operations at our unit in Gatwick. You will oversee on time delivery to customers and aircraft as per flight schedules, taking ownership, accountability for meeting all operational objectives and targets across the unit.
You must be flexible to work extra hours and weekends, bank holidays and evenings when required to meet seasonal, event and visitor demands. Consider shift start and finish times and transport links to site, living within reasonable travelling distance to the site.
Role and Key Responsibilities
- Daily management of the unit and meet customer requirements as per the agreed specifications.
- Responsible for unit inventory and managing costs including stock, hours, overheads and repairs to ensure company financial targets are achieved.
- Co-ordinate and liaise with internal and external customers to ensure effective and timely communications are always adhered to.
- Responsible for Time and Attendance for self and all staff as well as Payroll Hours data check and management in Focus.
- Carry out performance monitoring of team members daily and escalate concerns.
- Plan and manage teams’ output to ensure all targets are met.
- Ensure staff are supervised at appropriate levels and comply with all HSE rules and procedures.
- Comply and have awareness of QHSE policies and procedures, ensuring all accident/hazards/near misses, in your area are reported in line with Newrest requirements.
- Attend/conduct daily operational meetings/briefings and present accurate information and data as requested.
- Record, report and investigate all minor and major incidents, including visits by Government bodies. CAA, DFT, EHO, DEFRA, POLICE.
- Contribute and manage within defined systems of working to ensure quality of product, service to the customer and team progression/development.
- Instigate and support continuous improvement initiatives as well as all unit Corporate, Social, Responsibility initiatives.
- Ensure the data input in internal systems is completed in a timely manner.
Profile
Equipment process
- Ensure all equipment is packed to the required airline specification and correct equipment deadhead procedures for all airlines are adhered to and any surplus equipment is packed for storage in the warehouse.
- Ensure dish room required throughputs are achieved, all wash machine temperatures are recorded and monitored.
- Ensure that waste compacting, removal equipment and systems are in good working condition.
- Carry out quality checks including damaged and faulty equipment and segregation in line with airline specifications.
Bars and Kits
- Check that all bars and kits are packed to the required airline specification and as per the flight schedule / production plan.
- Ensure all stock items required within Food Assembly and Equipment areas are delivered as per the unit production plan.
- Ensure all the relevant HMRC documentation is accounted for, information completed as per the HMRC regulations.
- Check all the stock storage, packing and assembly areas are kept tidy and quality checks are carried out.
- Check that Ullage is stored in a designated area.
- Ensure Housekeeping rules and standards are always in place (Clean as you go)
- Comply with QHSE policies and procedures and always adhere to Newrest Non-negotiables and HSE standards.
- Ensure staff are supervised at appropriate levels, comply with all HSE rules, procedures and that all accident/hazards/near misses are reported in your area in line with Newrest requirements.
- Understand, comply and abide by any new or amendments to policies, processes or working practices.
Knowledge and Skills
- You will be a proven leader and have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in catering.
- You will be physically fit as this role may involve reasonable lifting of heavy / bulky objects. You will also need to access all public areas of the property including stairwells, confined spaces, heights etc.
- You will be able to work calmly under pressure.
- Excellent communication, teamwork and customer service skills.
- Good literacy skills, verbal and written.
- Operational awareness, understand of HACCP, COSHH, DVLA requirements and any other vehicle requirements as specified by your manager.
