Mission

Title:                          Unit Co-Ordinator - Transport.

Reports to:                 Transport Manager

Based at:                   Newrest MAN

Shifts:                         Rolling shift pattern ( required to work weekend and bankholidays )

Job Purpose

To support with Ramp and Fleet operations and to ensure a safe environment is maintained in accordance with all local airport aviation and Newrest compliance requirements. This role partners with the ramp operations and transport team in MAN to develop and drive a culture of safety; including conducting audits, reporting on findings, coaching team members, analysing trends, and improving behaviours and processes within the Transport operations as well as supporting and covering the Transport Manager as per the operational needs.

Profile

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for reporting and preparation of  investigation reports for accidents, hazards, near misses and injuries and make recommendations to senior management highlighting root causes and effective control measures.
  2. Carry out Ramp and Safety compliance audits to ensure statutory compliance and Newrest Group standards are met. These audits should be either covert or overt with involving participation with the driver and guide teams.
  3. Proactive intervention should be exercised at all times when an actual or potential risk at Airside arises.
  4. Conduct dock audits; Address failures and safety violations observed at the dock; improper chocking, reversing without a guide and other unsafe practices.
  5. Conduct security audits in line with Inflight Services security compliance.
  6. Support the Transport Manager and UK Fleet Manager to implement changes in ramp policy / process defined by either statutory changes or Newrest Group standards.
  7. Conduct internal audits on the loading of catering services in line with the customer order, in order to check adherence to catering order and specifications.
  8. Support with staff training, mentoring and ensure standard operating procedures are being followed at all times.
  9. Promote a culture of full compliance and continual improvement for all Health and Safety requirements and driving standards in line with legislation and applicable airside bylaws and Newrest Group Standards.
  10. Ensure you are aware and comply with QHSE policies and procedures.
  11. Support Transport Manager in response to customer queries regarding deviation to standard operating processes and preocedures.
  12. Support Transport Manager with any investigatory/disciplinary meeting in accordance with company policy and procedure.
  13. Ensure you understand Newrest Non-negotiables and Newrest HSE standards and adhere to these at all times.
  14.  Cover for Transport Manager as per the operational needs.
  15. Any other duties as requested by management.

 

 Knowledge and Skills

Ø  Previous experience of Ramp/ Airside operation at an airport is strongly desirable.

Ø  Proven ability to work calmly under pressure.

Ø  Excellent communication, team work and customer service skills.

Ø  Good literacy skills, verbal written and spoken.

Ø  Operational awareness, understand of HACCP, COSHH, HSE, Department for Transport, Airport Bylaws, VOSA and DVLA requirements.

Ø  HGV licence is essential (minimum Category C).
