Newrest Zambia Limited - is a leading inflight catering company in Zambia, part of the broader Newrest Group, a global leader in multi-sector catering. They primarily focus on inflight catering, serving airlines on long-haul, short-haul, and VIP flights. In addition to airlines, they also provide catering services to airport lounges and schools.
Job Purpose:
The job holder should be responsible for enforcing Production activities with support from the Executive Chef. Duties will include to be part of the recruiting Team for Production employees, responding to production issues, and assisting in developing new menu options under Production. He/she should have excellent communication skills with in-depth knowledge of several cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Superior in development of new menu options in Production based on seasonal changes and customer demand
- Ready and able to prepare and cook meals based on Company requirements and customer demands.
- Assist with the preparation and planning of meal designs for Production Department.
- Ensure that all kitchen activities operate in a timely manner.
- Plan, coordinate, organize and schedule Production Team Rosters and activities.
- Resolve employee concerns and conflicts within Production Department.
- Monitor and record inventory for Production.
- Provide support to all Production junior kitchen employees with various tasks including cooking, food preparation, dish plating and any other duty as assigned.
- Create schedules for all production employees and assist in evaluating performance of junior Production employees.
- Adhere to and implement sanitation regulations and safety regulations in production department.
- Manage the affairs of production department in the absence of the Superior.
Profile
Minimum Qualification and Experience
-
- Diploma/Bachelor's degree relevant field.
- A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of cooking methods, planning kitchen activities and best production practices.
- Good understanding of MS Office and relevant software programs.
- Teamwork-oriented with outstanding leadership abilities.
- Able to manage a minimum of 20 or more junior kitchen staff
